Reflections on Vietnam
Meeting the children and staff at Tam Binh II (TB2), I was in awe of the general feeling of happiness and hope felt by all. The children were incredibly affectionate and engaging, which was indicative of the high level of care they were receiving.
While there is clearly no substitute for the love and affection a child receives from a traditional family situation, WWO has come as close as possible to replicating this for these children. Despite the many obstacles they face in their day-to-day lives, these children are filled with hope for a bright future.
My favorite moment was when a little girl was coming home from school with a big smile on her face. When she saw us, she immediately pulled out a piece of paper from her backpack, and grinning with pride she showed us her excellent marks on her science test. Everyone congratulated her and rejoiced with her as if she were their own daughter. Thanks to WWO and the staff at TB2, this little girl has the confidence and high self-esteem to pursue whatever dreams she has for her own future.
